Do you want to know about Yoga Insider's Yoga meetup events? This post is about meetup events for yoga teachers/enthusiasts.
Having a local support network is extremely important if you want to succeed as a yoga teacher. If you are anything like me after finishing your teacher training you will have felt a real lack of support with your ongoing development as a teacher. That’s why Yoga Insider is organising Yoga meetup events across the UK.
Our first event was a massive success and we wanted to share some of the pictures, feedback from guests, and discuss some of the amazing benefits of an event like this.
This post is all about Yoga Insider’s Yoga meetup events.
Yoga Insider Meetup Events

‘Absolutely loved tonight, meeting so many awesome teachers and yoga enthusiasts! What a fab evening!’
Dr. Lucy Connor (@prescription_yogi)
What is a yoga meetup event?
Our meetup events are a relaxed and intimate space where yoga teachers/enthusiasts can get to know people from across the whole industry. We have yoga studio owners, senior teachers, yoga brands, and yoga academics all wanting to meet and chat. It is such a great way to get a real sense of how the industry works. It is also the best way to form a local support network or find mentors that will help advance your spiritual and professional development.
We always have speakers with amazing industry knowledge or a unique point of view so you leave learning something new. I was quite selfish in that I just designed the dream event I wanted as a teacher. That’s also why they take place in a cool venue with delicious food and great music.
‘Lovely evening at the @yogainsideruk meetup event. Lovely chats, great expert talks, and amazing food. Thankyou’

Who were the guest speakers?
At every event, we have two speakers. These are Ted-style talks; so inspirational, up-to-date with current affairs, and easily digestible. Don’t worry there are no PowerPoint slides or tests! just short and fascinating talks from industry leaders.
Our first speaker was the wonderful Michelle Almond owner of Studio One and senior teacher. Her talk was on ‘The highs and lows of running a yoga studio’. It was a real insight into what goes on behind the scenes at yoga studios; helpful for yoga teachers wanting to work in a studio or wanting to open one themselves.
Next, we had the equally wonderful Dr. Lucy Connor. She is a yoga teacher, and also, a practicing doctor in the field of clinical research and pharmaceutical medicine. She spoke on ‘Yoga and Health; how we can help and sometimes hinder as teachers’. This gave us a fascinating insight into the relationship between yoga and traditional western medicine.
‘Thank you @yogainsideruk for bringing teachers and studio owners together tonight. Ironically, being a yoga teacher can be a little isolating at times, so good to share experiences and hear from others; this was a great meetup!’

Tell us more about the venue and food
We held the Yoga Insider event at Evalyn’s cafe bar in the northern quarter, Manchester. They have a private room called The Daisy, which has a lively yet intimate feel to it and the interior design is really funky. I love all the staff there as well, they always make us feel so welcome. The food is delicious with loads of vegan and vegetarian options, perfect for a yoga event. When you get the venue and food just right at an event, something really special can happen and people just seem to open up and relax. It did not feel like a networking event, it felt like a group of friends coming together and having a lovely time.
What are the benefits of going to a Yoga Insider event?
- Support network and mentors
- Talks from industry experts (that count towards your training hours)
- Professional development
- Delicious vegan and vegetarian food
- Lots of fun
